National Association of the Remodeling Industry
Quality Design & Construction is a member at large of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) is the only independent association dedicated to the remodeling industry and is a not-for-profit trade association with more than 50 years of industry experience. NARI represents professional remodeling contractors, product manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, trade publications, utilities and lending institutions. NARI is committed to enhancing the professionalism of the remodeling industry and serving as an ally to home-owners. NARI members have access to the latest information in the industry through publications, educational programs and seminars, and conferences. The NARI professional remodeler pledges to uphold the association’s strict Code of Ethics and is dedicated to advocate professionalism and integrity.

Certified Graduate Remodeler/Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist/Certified Green Professional Quality Design & Construction Founder and President Dave Mackowski and Vice President Peggy Mackowski are both Certified Graduate Remodelers, a designation awarded by NAHB emphasizing strong business management skills and ethical business practices. As CGRs Dave and Peggy Mackowski have access to a plethora of industry resources and can personally guarantee that all business related standards are met with the utmost capacity of professionalism.

Dave and Peggy Mackowski are also both Certified Aging-In-Place Specialists or “CAPS” professionals. The CAPS program teaches remodelers, designers and architects the technical, business management and customer service skills necessary to meet the needs of a rapidly growing segment of the remodeling industry—home modifications for the aging-in-place. As CAPS professionals, the Mackowskis work with mature homeowners to help them stay in their homes and live safely, happily, independently and comfortably, regardless of age or physical ability.

Dave and Peggy Mackowski are both earned their Certified Green Professional designations from The National Association of Home Builders. This designation recognizes builders, remodelers and other industry professionals who incorporate green building principles into homes— without driving up the cost of construction. Classwork leading to the designation provides a solid background in green building methods, as well as the tools to reach consumers, from the organization leading the charge to provide market-driven green building solutions to the home building industry.

Awards

Since 1998, Quality Design & Construction has won dozens of industry awards for excellent design and professional implementation. Quality Design & Construction has been the proud recipient of numerous STAR (Showcasing Triangle Achievement in Remodeling) awards and “Special Feature” STAR Awards, as well as multiple Chrysalis Awards.

The STAR Award is presented by the Raleigh Wake County Home Builders Association Remodelers Council. Entries are judged on a 100 point system based on project overview, before and after photos as well as a site visit by the judges, budget considerations, overall aesthetic appeal and each entry is also judged by the homeowner. The prestigious Chrysalis Award has distinguished the finest remodeling project in the country since its inception in 1993. Judged by the writers and editors of consumer publications such as Southern Living and Better Homes and Gardens, the Chrysalis award distinguishes the industry’s best based on design, use of materials and use of space.

Quality Design & Construction was presented the first ever Livable Communities Award presented by AARP magazine and the National Association of Home Builders for a universal design home. The firm won for Ann’s Ridge Road Dream, a project that involved transforming a bland duplex into an accessible single-family home. The project features such touches as a first floor without hallways, recessed and task lighting throughout, and multi-level countertops among many other features.

Quality Design & Construction has been named Chrysalis Remodeler of the Year twice.

Dave and Peggy Mackowski are both heavily involved with the Raleigh Wake County Remodelers Council and are proud to be charter members of the 50+ Council with the Raleigh Wake County Home Builders Association.
