If you owned a condo on a golf course, wouldn’t you want to be able to enjoy the view? This owner insisted on it. When he made an offer to purchase a 1985, two-story condo the sale hinged on him being able to redesign the space so he could see the golf course in the back yard from the kitchen located in the front. All of the first floor walls had to disappear to achieve this; some were load bearing walls. Custom engineered beams were placed just below the ceiling level to carry the weight that had leaned on the now-gone walls. But the beams provided an aesthetic enhancement as well. The kitchen/dining wall was opened up just over the cooktop, but all of the existing cabinets were simply painted. A great idea for a low-cost, high-impact kitchen remodel. And look at the view!
